Staying overnight at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Wilmington Newark in Wilmington, Delaware was a great introduction to the Holiday Inn Express brand.
The five of us were on our way from New York to Sterling, Virginia for a family birthday party and decided to stay in a hotel half way since we were driving directly after school. Our trip started out a bit later than expected so I called the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites – Wilmington Newark front desk to let them know we would be arriving much later than their 3PM check in time. I was concerned about driving that far only to hear they had released the room because we didn’t arrive at a certain time. I’m really happy we stayed at Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites – Wilmington Newark. It’s located right off the highway in a location close to restaurants so we were able to have dinner before checking into the hotel.
Once we arrived, check in took less than a minute. We stayed in a double bed suite. It had a separate section with a pull out sofa and two televisions. I was able to send a few emails before bed because the room had free Wi-Fi. Overall, the room was comfortable, clean and large enough for us to stay in. Breakfast the next morning was held in the guest lounge area that had ample tables and chairs off the breakfast bar area. We didn’t have trouble finding a table for us to sit together or something every one was interested in eating. Breakfast was buffet style featuring hot and cold breakfast options including eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes along with continental staples - bagels, muffins, biscuits and cereal and fruit. It was the second best complimentary breakfast offer we have had in my eight years of family travel.
While there is a pool on property we didn’t visit it since we had to leave early in the morning to continue our drive to Virginia. We also didn’t need the business center or laundry service. Not only do I find the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites – Wilmington Newark to be family friendly but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in that area. I would also return to this hotel if we were traveling nearby. *Before You Go - Details You Should Know* ![]()
Family Friendly Rating: 4 out of 5 (Please note. The first two photos from this review are from the hotel website as my camera stopped working well that morning. The hotel guest lounge area photo of tables is one of the few hotel photos I was able to take with my camera.) |
