With the first day of school right around the corner, it's important to only spend money on back to school essentials.
I stopped back in to Fox & Friends on FOX NEWS to share a few of my Back to School Musts and Wallet Busts when shopping this back to school season with Alisyn Camerota and Dave Briggs.

Bust #1 - Buying Backpacks / Lunchbags year after year.
Buying back packs/book bags based on characters or designs and not making a school bag choice based on durability, safety and comfort a top priority. L.L. Bean offers several lines of Book Packs perfect for as young as 4 years old which are long lasting and start at $24.99. When you purchase a long lasting bag, it’s not necessary to purchase a new one every year. |
|
Bust #2 - Prepacked Lunches
Most prepackaged lunches found in the supermarket are low in nutritional content and high in sugar and sodium. Have your child help pack their own lunch the night before or use leftovers as nutritious “filler” in between slices of bread, as a wrap or in a pita/salad. |
|
Bust #3 - Not reusing last year's school supplies.
Not reusing school supplies from the previous year is a major way to bust your wallet. Make sure to take inventory on last year’s school supplies before you get to the store so you can see which supplies (scissors, rulers, lunch bags, etc.) don’t need to be purchased again. |
If you know of a product or service for the family that should be featured in a future Savvy Mommy segment, let me know.
