It's hard to believe the idea of creating Savvy Mommy came to me almost six years ago. It's amazing. It really feels like it was just yesterday I was walking through Union Square Park on my way to De La Guarda when I was urged to start this project. There may be only one “Savvy Mommy" but I had a great deal of help to get me this far. And those people deserve recognition. Special Boldface Public Thanks Go to:Natalie, Luke and Harrison. Obviously, without the three of you this site wouldn't exist and I would probably be on television talking about "really important" topics like the hottest handbags and mules of the season instead of sticking up for the pocket books of moms and the wallets of dads across the country. Kids, I think there are quite a few people across the country who also thank you. Luke and Natalie's Nana. My mom. My Savvy Mommy. For not forcing me to go to law school or to England to become a doctor. For being supportive of every venture I have had a passion for and for not being horrified when I changed careers in order to write 100% advertorial free product and service reviews. Matthew Eis-Proctor for taking that single webpage I designed myself (a miracle of its own!) and transforming it into the Savvy Mommy website template everyone grew to love. Brad Benninger of Studio 814 for taking the template everyone grew to love, throwing it out the window and making the current Savvy Mommy website cooler than that remarkable pineapple crème brulee I had for dessert three years ago which still has me comparing all other desserts to it. I still can’t believe you didn’t laugh at all the work you had ahead of you. Or at me when I declared I was “in love” with my new website. Jenn McMenemy for creating the fabulous illustrations found on the covers of my books, Mommy Land: Entering the Insanity of Motherhood and Cool Mom Inventions: Secrets of 76 Successful Mommy Inventors. (Jenn’s sister, Jessica, wrote and illustrated an adorable children’s book called Appaloosa Pete and the Band of Wiley Wolves.) Every single one of the executive producers, producers and bookers I’ve worked with for giving me the green light to do a segment on their show. Two in particular stand out – Byron and Jonathan – because until I did that first segment with them, my on air time consisted of News12 and Sesame Street. Many, many thanks. Behind the scenes Anne at The Daily Buzz now iVillage Live now In the Loop with iVillage now HSN … for allowing me to reach more moms on a regular basis on an extremely fun morning show (Those segments were some of the most fun I have ever had on-air) and then inviting me for rehearsals for iVillage Live. Jessica Denay for starting an important movement for mothers, for being one of the five most genuine people I have met in my life and for reminding me about my insurance. I am so proud to be able to call you my friend and of what your website is accomplishing. Jennifer of Jennifer Lee Photography for having extreme patience while shooting maternity book cover photos because wrangling two little ones and dealing with one fat pregnant mama couldn't have been easy. She's an absolute pro and took amazing photos . Did I also mention she woke up at 6AM to lend me her adorable children for a CW11 Morning News toy segment? Yeah, I'm officially in debt to her for life. For life people. All of the publicists, personal assistants and executives who allowed me to interview them, their client or boss in order to provide the moms with information they really enjoyed reading. And the fabulous moms who never fail to make me laugh no matter what is going on when we talk - Tracy, Laine, Donna and Jessica. Laura and Molly for insisting their contract included sundaes, pedicures, sails around the city and never complained about the unannounced class trips or being stranded in deserted swamp land.
And to all the moms who sign up for Essentials, e-mail me with feedback about products I’ve recommended, support my sponsors and truly appreciate the fact I don’t take the easy way out and write product advertorials – thank you so very much. I read all of my emails personally and take the time to consider all of your comments so please let me know what you think of the site changes and the product reviews. (The best is yet to come so please tell your friends looking for mommy product reviews to visit my site.) < prev Savvy Mommy In The Media | Mommy Land next > |
