Welcome to Mommy Land. Meet the Mean Moms of Hysteria Lane.

So I wrote Mommy Land, a satirical look at new motherhood which focused on the mean moms I met while pregnant with my first child. I also included a few of the run-ins I had throughout the pregnancy of my second child. Sadly I could only fit a handful of those competitive moms in the book. And while I didn't name names, I did give them names. I introduced new moms across the country to the mean moms on Hysteria Lane; including my favorite -- Breastfeeding Betty who gave me the Scarlet Letter B for bottle feeding my daughter after a few weeks.

Mommy Land came out in November 2005 and I received rave reviews from moms and critics alike. One of my favorite chick lit authors even gave me an endorsement! But then vicious criticism came in .... Not just about Mommy Land but about me and my children (and even the way I look!). Bugaboo Beth actually tried to get me to move out of Manhattan. Run me out of my own neighborhood.

Well, that's not going to happen. Although I tell new moms on a daily basis to "Beware of Mean Moms", I am not afraid of them or their insane attempts to ostracize my daughter from the birthday parties they also attend.
